Still Life

Still Life — a moment, a memory, an invitation to story.

A lovely trip to The Sunflower Field in Autuaugaville, AL one very hot July morning brought me up close and personal with myriad faces. Each countenance seemed to shine with joy.
I spent weeks studying sunflowers from the Autaugaville, AL field. Somehow, their radiance never left them entirely. From the start they seemed fit for the task of abundance and well-equipped for provision in life and in their harvest. I had a hard time letting them go and wanted to show that even as life ebbed, they still appeared as having lived well, proudly, humbly preparing the way for next year's planting.
My great-grandmother's sewing machine; a tribute to her memory and to her daughter, my grandmother.
Heirloom Harvest — I grew these in a container on the balcony, the only place with sun and without deer. The sweetest tomatoes I've ever tasted.
Old camera, vintage books, and dried flowers; what story do our lives tell?
